GivEnergy owners: what can you add or replace?
GivEnergy batteries only work with GivEnergy inverters, and GivEnergy Ltd is in administration. That leaves three routes: keep your system as it is, add a separate battery with its own inverter alongside it, or replace the system. Each option below is linked to its source.
What happened to GivEnergy
- GivEnergy Ltd entered administration on 9 April 2026 and has stopped trading.Source: ESS News

Option 1: keep it and add GivEnergy batteries
GivEnergy states that its batteries need GivEnergy inverters, and that mixing in other brands would void the warranty. Adding capacity therefore means finding GivEnergy batteries, with no manufacturer warranty now available.Source: GivEnergy
Option 2: add a separate battery alongside
A battery with its own inverter can connect on the AC side, leaving your GivEnergy system untouched. Only combinations the manufacturer documents are shown.

Other batteries may also work alongside a GivEnergy system, but we only list them once the manufacturer documents it.
Option 3: replace the system
A replacement all-in-one system can usually reuse your existing solar panels, as long as the array fits the new inverter's solar input. Your installer confirms this from your panel details. Solar input limits from each manufacturer's datasheet:

Questions people ask
Can I use a non-GivEnergy battery with my GivEnergy inverter?
GivEnergy says no: its batteries need GivEnergy inverters, and mixing brands would void the warranty. Instead, a separate battery with its own inverter can be installed alongside your GivEnergy system, or the whole system can be replaced.
Is my GivEnergy battery warranty still valid?
GivEnergy Ltd entered administration on 9 April 2026. The UK Energy Storage Association says warranties can only be enforced against GivEnergy itself, so you are likely to be unable to claim on them. If you paid by credit card, Section 75 protection may apply.
Will the GivEnergy app keep working?

Should I replace a working GivEnergy system?
Not just because of the administration: a working system keeps working. What changes is that GivEnergy can no longer cover repairs, so it is worth knowing your options (above) before a part fails.
